OCCUPATION

Contains detailed information for an occupation uniquely defined by an occupation code. The occupation code helps link all billets to Legislative Titles plus links classified billets to occupation grades.

	1	OCC-CD DB=DA CS=HR HD=Occ/Code	A	4.0	N		An identifier of an occupation title and the type of work performed by an appointed employee. For classified positions, this code is mandated by the State and its first position is alphabetic. For non-classified positions, these codes are all numeric and are created by the University. In some circumstances a value of 9999 is used for hourly extra help.

	1	OCC-GRADE DB=DD CS=HR HD=Occ/Gr	N	2.0	N		Job grade associated with a Legislative Title. Job grade is only applicable for classified titles.
	1	OCC-GA-CD DB=DG CS=HR	A	1.0	N		Identifies occupation codes which are Graduate Assistants versus those which are not. Possible values are: Y = This is a GA occupation N = This is not a GA occupation (stored on the data base as blank).
	1	SOC-CD DB=DH CS=HR	A	7.0	N		The Standard Occupation Classification code used for higher education reporting (IPEDs, ADHE, CUPA, etc.). In most situations it relates directly to the University's OCC-CD. In other cases the value will remain blank on the Occupation table meaning the value must be defined by Position. These exception conditions are defined on the Position-SOC-Exception file.

	1	LABOR-MARKET-SALARY DB=CK CS=HR HD=Max/Auth/Salary	N	6.0	N		A special high entry salary authorized by the state for an occupation code (title) based upon the labor market (a higher salary is required to attract employees with the required skills). This salary is between the min and max when a special labor market has been approved, otherwise it is zero.

	1	TIME-STAMP DB=AC CS=UA HD=Time Stamp	B	8.0	F		This field is used to uniquely identify each update to a record. Each time a record is updated, this field should be assigned the value of the Natural function *TIMESTMP. Programs should check to see if this field has changed from the time they first read a record until the time they read the record with hold. This will determine if someone else has altered the record.
